Harvest Homecoming 2024: A Week-Long Celebration in New Albany, Indiana
The Harvest Homecoming 2024 festival, one of the most anticipated events in New Albany, Indiana, has been in full swing since October 5 and will conclude on October 13. This year marks the 57th anniversary of the festival, which has grown to become the 5th highest-attended festival in Indiana.
The festivities began with a morning hike and official opening ceremonies on October 5 at 2:30 PM, followed by a parade that started at 3 PM. The celebration includes a wide range of activities such as rides, musical entertainment, children’s events, craft booths, and food vendors. While there is no admission fee, some rides, events, and food items require a nominal fee.
One of the highlights of the festival is the Booth Days, which took place from October 10 to 13. These days featured craft and food booths open from noon to 9 PM on Thursday and Friday, from 9 AM to 10 PM on Saturday, and from noon to 5 PM on Sunday.
The festival also includes various specific events such as the Harvest Baking Contest, the Harvest Kids Run, the Pumpkin Decorating Contest, and the Purdue Pumpkin Chunkin’ Event. Other activities include a Kids’ Dog Show, a Senior Bingo session, and a Blind Draw Cornhole Tournament.
The New Albany Riverfront has been a key location for several events, including the Harvest Homecoming Car Cruise in memory of Ralph Hines and the Balloon Glow and Rides. The festival has something for everyone, from family nature walks to big wheel races and baby crawls, ensuring a fun-filled experience for all attendees.
