Heavy Rains Continue to Lash Mumbai and Suburbs, IMD Issues Alerts for Maharashtra Districts
Heavy showers have persistently battered Mumbai and its suburbs over the last 24 hours, although the intensity is anticipated to decrease on July 14 according to the weather department.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red’ alert for Kolhapur, Satara, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri districts in Maharashtra, projecting very heavy rainfall on Sunday.
During the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, the Colaba observatory in south Mumbai recorded 92 mm of rainfall, while the Santacruz observatory, representing the western suburbs, registered 142 mm of rain, as per the IMD data.
The Meteorological Department has forecasted diminished rain activity in Mumbai on Sunday.
The agricultural regions of Marathwada and Vidarbha experienced lesser rainfall compared to Mumbai and other coastal areas of Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. The weather department has anticipated low-intensity or scattered showers in these regions on Sunday.
