HGTV Star Jonathan Scott Discusses Upcoming Wedding Plans with Zooey Deschanel

Los Angeles, CA — HGTV star Jonathan Scott, 47, recently opened up about his upcoming wedding to actress Zooey Deschanel. The couple, who got engaged in August 2023 during a trip to Scotland, are known for their love of Christmas.

During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Scott revealed that while they are holiday fanatics who decorate extensively for Christmas, their wedding will not be themed around the holiday. “No, I think there’s something for us that’s magical about the holidays and Christmas being when Christmas is,” he explained.

Scott’s older brother, Drew, joined in the interview, but both expressed that they have yet to finalize any wedding plans. Jonathan mentioned, “We literally haven’t made any plans yet. We’re busy with all of the kids’ stuff.” Deschanel has children from her previous marriage to Jacob Pechenik.

Regarding their wedding, Jonathan stated, “There’s a lot of stuff we want to do. I think we want to have a warm wedding and haven’t figured out where that’s going to be yet.” The couple is focused on creating a meaningful event with their friends and family. “Whatever we do, it has to be meaningful to us,” he noted.

Despite the busy schedules and holiday celebrations, Scott expressed excitement for the eventual wedding. “We’re going to get through the holidays and then we’ve got probably the ultimate party to plan,” he added.
