Istanbul Weather Forecast And Storms

Istanbul, Turkey – A heat wave from Africa has swept through Turkey, reaching as far as Thrace. The hot weather, combined with strong winds, has heightened stress levels across the Marmara Region, including Istanbul.

The General Directorate of Meteorology and the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) in Istanbul have reported that winds could reach speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour. They have advised caution, particularly for outdoor activities and maritime transport.

Dust from desert regions is expected to tint the sky yellow, arriving via winds from Libya. Authorities have warned that this airborne dust could irritate eyes and respiratory systems.

According to updated forecasts from AKOM, Istanbul and its surroundings will experience thunderstorm activity on Saturday and Sunday. By Monday, the weather is expected to gradually improve.

AKOM stated, “Heavy rainfall may occur across Marmara due to low-pressure systems moving in from the Central Mediterranean. We urge citizens to be careful of sudden floods, waterlogging, and possible transportation issues.”

In other news, three people were injured in a car accident in the Beylikdüzü district of Istanbul when one vehicle lost control and collided with another. Emergency teams were dispatched, and the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

In the sports world, a shocking claim has emerged regarding the removal of the VAR system in Turkey’s 1st league, as stated by Hakan Bolat, the president of the 2nd League Clubs Union and Iskenderunspor. He indicated that high costs are the main reason for this potential change.

Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that inflation expectations have improved, reflecting a decline in projections for the next 12 months, attributing the recent economic stability to decisive policies and favorable market conditions.

In a club decision, Sakaryaspor has called for an extraordinary general meeting on June 1 to address leadership matters.
