Austin House Collapse Emergency Responders

AUSTIN, Texas — Multiple emergency agencies are on the scene following a house collapse in northwest Austin on Sunday morning, reported Austin Fire Department (AFD) officials. The incident occurred at 10407 Double Spur Loop, near Spicewood Springs Road and U.S. 183, around 11:25 a.m.

Earlier, AFD mistakenly reported the location as Yaupon Drive. As the incident unfolded, nearby residents reported hearing a loud noise, which some described as a possible explosion. Authorities are actively investigating the origin of this noise but have yet to determine its source.

According to AFD, a two-story house collapsed due to what officials described as “an unknown event.” Emergency responders located one occupant inside the structure. That individual was successfully extricated by AFD crews and is currently receiving medical attention from Austin-Travis County EMS medics.

ATCEMS indicated that there were reports of “multiple patients,” suggesting that the situation may involve additional injuries. Images circulating on social media also show the aftermath of the collapse along with a visible plume of smoke rising from the scene.

Local authorities have cordoned off a significant area around the site, urging nearby residents to evacuate. In interviews, residents recounted hearing the explosion and noted that multiple other homes in the vicinity sustained substantial damage.

The Leander Police Department confirmed that residents in their area reported hearing the explosion, although the incident did not occur within their jurisdiction. Cedar Park Police have also acknowledged that a loud boom was heard and felt throughout their city, but like Leander, the explosion originated in Austin.

This story is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. A KVUE news crew is en route to the scene.
