Hubballi Campus Murder: Accused’s Mother Denies ‘Love Jihad’ Claims in Karnataka
The recent tragic incident at the BVB College campus in Hubballi, Karnataka, where Neha Hiremath, the daughter of Congress Councillor Niranjan Hiremath, was brutally stabbed to death, has stirred controversy and emotions across the state. The accused, Fayaz, has been at the center of the allegations, with his mother now coming forward to refute the ‘love jihad’ claims that have been circulating.
Fayaz’s mother, Mumtaz, revealed that her son and Neha were in a relationship and were deeply in love. She dismissed Niranjan Hiremath’s accusations of ‘love jihad’ and explained that their relationship was consensual and based on mutual affection.
According to Mumtaz, Fayaz had been battling depression and had been out of the public eye for a considerable period. The mother disclosed that Neha had taken the initiative in their relationship, even obtaining Fayaz’s phone number after he excelled in a bodybuilding competition.
While Mumtaz acknowledged her son’s crime in taking Neha’s life, she called for him to face the full consequences of his actions and receive the appropriate legal punishment for the heinous act.
Following the tragic incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed the media, dismissing the ‘love jihad’ narrative propagated by the BJP. He condemned Neha’s murder and assured that the investigation would be conducted diligently to deliver justice while accusing the BJP of politicizing the tragedy for their gain.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi criticized the state government for overlooking the ‘love jihad’ angle in the case, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination. BJP’s Tejasvi Surya also weighed in on the issue, highlighting the impact of appeasement politics and calling out Congress for neglecting the alarming trend of hate crimes.
