Huddersfield Town Signs Marcus Harness from Ipswich Town

HUDDERSFIELD, England — Huddersfield Town announced on June 2, 2025, that Marcus Harness has joined the club as their second signing of the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old attacker has agreed to a three-year deal and will officially join the Terriers on July 1, following the conclusion of his contract with Ipswich Town.
New Huddersfield manager Lee Grant is familiar with Harness from their time together at Ipswich. Harness, who has also played for Burton Albion and Portsmouth, is known for his versatility, capable of playing on either wing, up front, or as an attacking midfielder. Grant expressed his enthusiasm about adding Harness to the squad.
“I’m delighted to add Marcus to the squad this early in the summer and keep our momentum building,” Grant said. “Opening the window with two players with such quality and experience and a genuine desire for success sets a wonderful tone for the season ahead.”
Grant emphasized that Harness’s previous experience in competitive leagues will benefit the team. “Marcus has experience of the hard work and sacrifice that is needed to take an upward, ambitious journey,” he said. “We are delighted he has chosen us ahead of significant interest from clubs in the division above.”
Harness, who is eligible to represent Ireland, revealed his excitement about joining Huddersfield. “I got a call from Lee Grant after he got the manager job at Huddersfield Town. He told me about the club and the direction it’s going in,” Harness said. “I know how he works, so it was a no-brainer for me – I was sold early on.”
Before moving to Huddersfield, Harness spent the majority of the 2024/25 season on loan at Derby County in the Championship, making over 40 appearances and scoring four goals. He also had two brief appearances for Ipswich in the Premier League, coming off the bench against Liverpool and Manchester City.
“We’ve had a lot of conversations over the last week, and it seems like a great fit; I’m really excited to be here,” Harness added.
