Florida Hurricane Retail Closures

As a hurricane approaches Florida, several major retailers, including Publix, Walmart, and Winn-Dixie, have either shut down or altered their operational hours across the state. Information sourced from the companies’ websites indicates these changes afflict a number of areas especially in the Jacksonville region.

Currently, closures include Winn-Dixie, Aldi, and Freshfield Farms, which have shut down specific stores in the Jacksonville area. Notably, Winn-Dixie’s Crescent City location in Putnam County is closed, along with Aldi’s St. Augustine and St. Johns stores. Freshfield Farms has also announced the closure of its Jacksonville store for both Wednesday and Thursday.

In addition to local grocery stores, Target has decided to shutter its St. Augustine Beach store early on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and its Jacksonville Beach location at 7 p.m. as a precautionary measure ahead of the storm.

The storm, referred to as Hurricane Milton, has prompted these measures as it nears Florida, causing disruptions in retail services. The Florida Times-Union will continue to provide updates on additional store closures or changes in operating hours as information becomes available.
