Snake Activity Gold Coast

Increased temperatures in the Gold Coast region have led to a significant rise in snake activity, as reported by local snake catchers. With the onset of the warmer months, residents are encountering more snakes in unexpected areas, prompting experts to issue warnings.

“This year we’ve seen an immediate spike. In the last week of August, it got very busy, very quickly,” stated Tim Hudson from Hudson’s Snake Catching. The surge in appearances has been attributed to the recent warm weather, which influences snake behavior and movement.

Among the snake species reported, Eastern brown snakes are particularly active, given that it is their peak breeding season. However, they are not the only snakes being reported. “We’ve had some red belly black snakes getting around, some whip snakes, some green tree snakes,” Hudson mentioned.

Further sightings have included carpet pythons found wrapped around a plant and a green tree snake discovered on a baby’s cot. These incidents underline the need for vigilance among residents, as snakes can appear in various parts of homes, including rock and retaining walls, toilets, and even car engines.

Hudson advised that if residents encounter these reptiles, it is crucial to give them space and contact licensed professionals for safe relocation. “Give them their space and leave it up to licensed professionals to do all the relocating,” he advised.
