Indianapolis Colts Owner Jim Irsay Hospitalized for Suspected Overdose
The owner of the Indianapolis Colts football team, Jim Irsay, was reportedly hospitalized in early December 2023 following a suspected overdose, according to a report by TMZ Sports.
Documents obtained from the Carmel Police Department revealed that authorities were called to Irsay’s residence on December 8th after an individual found him unconscious on the bathroom floor with a blue skin tone. Upon their arrival, police found Irsay struggling to breathe and with a weak pulse and constricted pupils. Despite attempts to wake him, paramedics had to administer Narcan, a drug commonly used to revive individuals in opioid overdose situations.
Jim Irsay, who is also known for his involvement in music and owns a band, has been open about his struggles with substance abuse in the past. In an interview on HBO‘s Real Sports in November 2023, Irsay revealed that a previous drug overdose had stopped his breathing and nearly cost him his life. He admitted to having been to rehab 15 times in the past.
In 2014, Irsay faced legal consequences after a DUI incident that included four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. Following the incident, the NFL suspended him for six games for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy. Irsay took responsibility for his actions and apologized to the community and Colts fans.
Irsay’s philanthropic efforts and engagement with Indianapolis fans have earned him respect and admiration. Despite his personal struggles, he remains a beloved figure in the city, known for his passion for the Colts and his active presence on social media.
