Injury Concerns for Inter Milan After Dominant Victory Over Atalanta
Inter Milan is currently facing uncertainty regarding the fitness of key players Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni, who may have sustained injuries during their recent victory against Atalanta.
The Italian champions showcased an impressive performance at San Siro, securing a commanding 4-0 win over Gian Piero Gasperini’s side. The match was characterized by a strong display from the Nerazzurri, leaving their opponents without any answers.
Berat Djimsiti’s own goal opened the scoring for Inter, followed by a remarkable volley from Nicolo Barella that increased their lead. In the second half, Marcus added two more goals, effectively sealing the match for the home team.
However, the favorable outcome was overshadowed by concerns over the fitness of Calhanoglu and Bastoni. Coach Simone Inzaghi opted to substitute both players with Kristjan Asllani and Carlos Augusto in the 60th minute due to muscle fatigue.
Reports indicate that Bastoni has suffered a strain in the soleus muscle of his right leg, while Calhanoglu has experienced a strain in the rotators of his left hip. Further updates regarding their conditions are expected in the coming hours.
With the international break approaching, the Nerazzurri faithful remain hopeful that both players will recover in time for their upcoming matches. Bastoni has been called up for Italy’s first two UEFA Nations League fixtures, alongside Inter teammates Davide Frattesi and Federico Dimarco.
Similarly, Turkiye‘s coach Vincenzo Monella has included Calhanoglu in his squad. Both coaches may need to make adjustments should further examinations reveal injuries.
This season, Inter Milan has already contended with several injuries, as Mehdi Taremi, Lautaro Martinez, Stefan De Vrij, Piotr Zielinski, and Marko Arnautovic have all faced muscle-related issues since returning from their summer break.
