Investigation Underway After Driver Found Dead Near Mini-Van

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are investigating the death of an individual who was reportedly run over by the mini-van they were driving. The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 8:27 a.m., when a truck driver discovered the body near a stationary mini-van on Interstate 75 Northbound at an entrance ramp.

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office and Fire-Rescue crews responded promptly to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of the victim, who was confirmed to be the owner of the nearby mini-van, which was still in gear and running while lodged against a guardrail.

According to officials, the victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, was not a resident of Gordon County but showed evidence consistent with having been struck by a vehicle. Officers quickly ruled out foul play and indicated that no other individuals were involved in the incident.

“This appears to be a tragic accident,” said Deputy Sheriff Mark Stevens. “We are working closely with the Georgia State Patrol, who are leading this investigation alongside our deputies and the coroner’s office.”
