Las Vegas Officer Involved Shooting May 2025

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Friday afternoon on North Rainbow Boulevard near Vegas Drive. The incident was reported just after 1:30 p.m.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, no officers were injured during the event. However, reports indicate that a suspect is down at the scene, which appears to be related to the Las Vegas Athletic Club.

Initially reported as an active shooter situation, officials later confirmed that it was not an active shooter incident. During the investigation, nearby schools, including McMillan Elementary, Fong Elementary, and Katz Elementary, were briefly placed on lockdown. The lockdowns have since been lifted.

Traffic cameras showed a strong police presence, with both LVMPD and Las Vegas Fire responding to the area. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue reported that SWAT teams were clearing the building, describing the situation as “active.”

No additional details have been released at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. Police urge the public to avoid the area as they continue their work.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
