EDEN, Vt. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the deaths of two individuals discovered inside a home in Eden Wednesday afternoon. The Vermont State Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:09 p.m. regarding the incident on Route 100.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials from the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department and the state Department of Fish and Wildlife found two deceased persons inside the residence. Vermont State Police confirmed that everyone involved in the incident is accounted for and assured the public there is no ongoing threat.

Michael Hayden, a passerby who witnessed the emergency response, noted, “I had to pull over several times. I didn’t think much about it, except that it must have been an accident or something.” His observations came as the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit began investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The investigation remains in its preliminary phases, focusing on the cause and manner of death, which will be determined by autopsies conducted at the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington. No details about the identities of the deceased have been released pending notifications to their families.

A police statement emphasized that “everyone involved in this incident is believed to be accounted for, and there is no identified threat to the community.” Authorities are working with several divisions, including the Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the Lamoille County State’s Attorney’s Office, to collect information and assess the situation.

As of now, law enforcement encourages anyone with knowledge regarding the case to contact the Williston barracks at 802-878-7111. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses, and the police are committed to keeping the public informed.
