Jackson City Council Declares Ward 2 Seat Vacant: Special Election Set for October 2024

The Jackson City Council has officially announced the Ward 2 City Council seat as vacant, triggering the need for a Special Election. This election will be held on October 1, 2024, to determine the new representative for the ward in Jackson, Mississippi.

In preparation for the election, the Municipal Clerk’s office will facilitate the absentee voting process. The office will accept absentee votes from September 16th to September 27th, maintaining hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will also be open for half-days from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, and Saturday, September 28. The deadline for absentee ballot submission is set for Saturday, September 28th, at noon.

Voters can access a sample ballot, which lists all the qualified candidates running for the Ward 2 City Council seat, to familiarize themselves with the individuals contesting in the election.
