Jacksonville Buckman Bridge Police Activity

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Buckman Bridge is closed in both directions as of 7 a.m. Thursday due to ongoing police activity, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

The JSO issued an alert early Thursday morning notifying drivers of the sudden closure, which will remain in effect until further notice. Authorities have not specified the nature of the police activity prompting the closure.

Traffic is expected to be significantly affected as the closure impacts a major thoroughfare connecting various parts of the city. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area until the situation is resolved.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but safety is our top priority,” a JSO spokesperson said. “Please remain cautious and patient as we work to resolve this situation.”

As of now, no injuries or specific incidents have been reported related to the police activity. The JSO plans to provide updates as more information becomes available regarding the situation on the bridge.

The Buckman Bridge is a crucial link for commuters in Jacksonville, facilitating thousands of vehicles daily. Local news outlets, including News4JAX and First Coast News, will relay updates once the road reopens.
