Jahmyr Gibbs Named NFC Offensive Player of the Week Again
Detroit, MI – For the second time in three weeks, Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Gibbs earned this honor following a standout performance on November 9, where he rushed for 142 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 44-22 victory over the Washington Commanders.
This recognition marks Gibbs’ third career award, making him one of the few Lions players to receive it three times. He joins the ranks of Lions legends like Barry Sanders, who won the award 11 times, Calvin Johnson with four, and Jared Goff with four.
The impressive feat came in Week 12 of the 2025 NFL season when Gibbs ran for a remarkable 219 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns, in addition to catching 11 passes for 45 yards and another touchdown during a game that went into overtime.
In that overtime period, Gibbs showcased his speed with a 69-yard touchdown run, reaching a maximum speed of 22.17 miles per hour. This run ranks among the fastest in the league this season, with Gibbs achieving two of the top speeds recorded.
Gibbs’ performance not only set career highs but also placed him alongside Pro Football Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson as one of only two players in NFL history to record over 200 rushing yards and 10 receptions in a single game.
<p"My goal is to keep improving and helping my team win," said Gibbs after his performance. The 23-year-old running back, who is in his second NFL season, continues to make headlines with his explosive plays and versatility on the field.
In total this season, Gibbs has achieved 1,330 scrimmage yards with 13 touchdowns. He is on track to join the elite group of running backs who have reached similar milestones in their first three seasons, including legends like Adrian Peterson and Ricky Watters.
With his dynamic skills and youthful energy, Gibbs has sparked conversations about his potential as one of the most dangerous running backs in the NFL. After reaching 44 career scrimmage touchdowns, he is just a few touchdowns away from tying former NFL greats for a spot among the most prolific scorers before the age of 24.
