James City County Ticket Wins $3 Million in Mega Millions

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — A local Mega Millions ticket purchased in James City County is now worth $3 million following the drawing on March 7, according to the Virginia Lottery.
The ticket matched the first five winning numbers but did not match the Mega Ball. Normally, matching five numbers would earn the player a $1 million prize. However, the winning ticket holder opted to spend an additional dollar on the Megaplier, thus tripling the prize to $3 million.
The winning numbers for the March 7 drawing were 8, 20, 48, 58, and 60, with the Mega Ball number being 7. This ticket is the only one in Virginia to match the first five numbers in the recent drawing, and it is among just two such tickets nationwide.
No ticket successfully matched all six numbers to claim the jackpot, resulting in an estimated jackpot of $256 million for the upcoming drawing on Tuesday, March 11.
The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 1800 Jamestown Road in James City County, situated near Williamsburg. The winner has 180 days to claim the prize.
