Jeff Goldblum on His Potential Exit from the Jurassic Park Franchise
Jeff Goldblum, the iconic actor known for his roles in numerous films, including the Jurassic Park series, has hinted that his time as Dr. Ian Malcolm may be coming to an end. In a recent interview with Total Film, Goldblum suggested that he might not return to the franchise, which is set to relaunch with the upcoming film “Jurassic World Rebirth“.
Goldblum first portrayed Dr. Ian Malcolm in the 1993 film “Jurassic Park” and reprised his role in the 1997 sequel “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.” After a long hiatus, he returned to the character in 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and again in 2022’s “Jurassic World Dominion.” However, with the new saga on the horizon, Goldblum believes his character may have “ridden off into the sunset. Maybe,” as he expressed in the interview.
Despite his potential exit, Goldblum is enthusiastic about the future of the franchise. He mentioned his excitement to see what the new cast, including Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey from “Wicked,” will bring to the series. Goldblum praised the idea of new actors taking up the reins, stating, “I think that’s a good idea”.
This development comes as the Jurassic Park franchise prepares for a significant reboot with “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which is scheduled for release next summer. The film promises a fresh start with a new cast, marking a potential new era for the beloved dinosaur franchise.
