Jelly Roll Reveals Beardless Look at Titans Game
Nashville, Tennessee – Jelly Roll made his first public appearance beardless on Nov. 23, stepping onto the field at Nissan Stadium before the Tennessee Titans‘ game against the Seattle Seahawks. Known for his signature beard, the country singer, whose real name is Jason DeFord, showcased his new look while wearing a black Titans hoodie, matching hat, and pants.
The 40-year-old artist expressed his surprise at the attention his transformation has garnered. “I look like a ninja turtle,” he quipped, reflecting on his recent Grammy nominations. “Crazy. One of the reasons I even started growing a beard is I was so obese; it was just easier to cover up what was happening here.” He added, “I don’t want to cry but wow, Country Album of the Year! Win, lose or draw, dude, holy f–k we won.”
His wife, Bunnie Xo, has shared the journey of his beard removal on social media. In a video posted on Nov. 13, she noted, “I have never seen this man without his facial hair. Not one frickin’ time.” She encouraged her followers to appreciate Jelly Roll’s new look, emphasizing the health benefits of his weight loss. “He looks so much more healthier now that he’s lost weight,” she said.
Jelly Roll’s decision to shave his beard came as part of his ongoing transformation, losing nearly 200 pounds over the past two years. He explained that he kept his beard for years due to feeling self-conscious about his weight. Bunnie added, “He’s always had the same heart… he’s that dude. I’ll forever be cheering him on no matter what weight he is.”
Reactions to his new look have been mixed. After surprising their daughter, Bailee, with his appearance, she jokingly responded, “Oh my God, I’m going to cry. I don’t like this; you look like a turtle.” Jelly Roll has focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, choosing not to use weight-loss medications that have become popular among celebrities.
As he embraces his new image, Jelly Roll remains committed to his music and artistry, celebrating his accomplishments while also reflecting on the changes in his life. “I’m grateful for this journey,” he said, looking forward to what comes next.
