Jennifer Lawrence Calls ‘One Battle After Another’ the Best Movie She’s Ever Seen
LOS ANGELES, CA — Actress Jennifer Lawrence has praised the 2025 action thriller ‘One Battle After Another,’ saying it’s the best movie she has ever seen. In a recent episode of BAFTA Playback, she discussed key scenes and her memorable experience watching the film.
Lawrence, 35, attended the movie’s screening with her husband, Cooke Maroney. She expressed her excitement, saying, ‘I can’t remember a time where I’ve had an experience like that in the cinema, and it was shared.’ When the film ended, she noted that the audience applauded in appreciation.
‘Thank you for that experience,’ she told Maroney, who secured their tickets two weeks in advance. The film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, follows an ex-revolutionary named Bob Ferguson, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, as he and his daughter confront a corrupt military officer portrayed by Sean Penn.
Lawrence described the pacing of the film as relentless, stating, ‘There’s not an extra minute in it. At no point does it drag.’ She emphasized the depth of the characters, saying, ‘Anderson has so many characters inside of him, and they’re all so visceral, so real that it’s so alive and you’re in it.’
She also praised the performances, particularly those of DiCaprio and Penn. ‘The performances are unbelievable,’ she added. ‘I mean, Leo, obviously, but I mean, my God,’ referring to Penn’s role as Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw.
‘One Battle After Another,’ based on Thomas Pynchon‘s 1990 novel, has received critical acclaim since its release and currently holds a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Lawrence encouraged viewers to see it in theaters for the full experience.
