Jennifer Lopez Suffers Facial Injury While Rehearsing for AMAs

Los Angeles, CA – Jennifer Lopez shared a troubling health update on her Instagram Story early Wednesday, May 14, after suffering a facial injury while rehearsing for the upcoming American Music Awards (AMAs) set for May 26.
The 55-year-old singer posted images that showed the extent of her injuries, which included a swollen nose and bruised eye. “So this happened…” Lopez captioned a photo of herself applying an ice pack to her right eye. In a subsequent photo, she revealed a cut on her nose, stating, “(During @amas rehearsals).”
Lopez later confirmed that she required stitches to treat the injury. She thanked her Beverly Hills-based facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Jason Diamond, in a follow-up post, sharing a picture of them together and writing, “Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond. A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”
The incident is not Lopez’s first health scare related to the AMAs. In 2009, she suffered a fall during her performance at the event, which left her with a bruised bone. “One of the dancer’s backs was slippery from sweat and lights,” she explained during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Despite the injury, Lopez remains focused on her dual role as host and performer at the 2025 AMAs. This will be her second time hosting the awards show, making her one of only four artists to do so multiple times. Other artists include Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, and Pitbull.
Lopez’s recovery appears to be on track as she prepares for the ceremony, which will be held in Las Vegas on Memorial Day. Her fans are eager for her return to the stage, especially as she gears up for her “Up All Night: Live in 2025” tour starting in July.
