Jessi Embroiled in Controversy After Fan Alleges Assault by Her Entourage

A recent incident involving K-pop singer Jessi has sparked widespread controversy and public outcry. On September 29, an 18-year-old fan alleged that he was assaulted by a member of Jessi’s entourage after politely asking for a photo in an alley in Apgujeong, Seoul.

According to the fan’s account, he approached Jessi early in the morning while she was with her acquaintances. Despite Jessi’s polite decline and apology, one of the men in her group blocked the fan, cursed at him in English, and another man suddenly attacked the fan, hitting and kicking him without warning.

Surveillance footage released by JTBC’s ‘Crime Chief‘ shows Jessi initially trying to intervene and stop the violence, but she eventually stepped back and left the scene along with her group. The victim was left to report the incident to the police, who later found Jessi and her companions at a nearby bar but could not locate the assailant.

Jessi’s agency has issued a statement denying any connection between Jessi and the assailant, claiming the attacker was a Chinese acquaintance of a producer close to Jessi and not associated with her personally. The agency also stated that they would consider compensation from a moral standpoint if the victim believes Jessi was associated with the attacker.

The police are currently investigating the incident and have summoned the producer who was with Jessi that night for questioning to help identify the assailant. The victim is reportedly suffering from significant emotional distress and is eagerly awaiting the assailant’s arrest.

Korean netizens have reacted with mixed emotions, with some criticizing Jessi for leaving the scene while her fan was being assaulted. Many have expressed disappointment and frustration over her actions, while others have defended her, arguing that she did not have a responsibility to intervene in the physical altercation.
