Jessica Barden Joins ‘Dune: Prophecy’ Prequel Series as Young Valya Harkonnen

Jessica Barden has landed a recurring guest star role in the upcoming Max prequel series titled ‘Dune: Prophecy.’ The show, initially named ‘Dune: The Sisterhood,’ is based on the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ penned by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

In ‘Dune: Prophecy,’ Barden is set to portray the character of the young Valya Harkonnen, alongside Emily Watson, who plays the elder version of the role. Valya is depicted as ambitious, stubborn, and forceful, with dreams of restoring her family’s noble standing. However, a tragic event alters her path, ultimately leading her to the Sisterhood.

Known for her work on Channel 4‘s ‘The End of the F-ing World,’ Barden’s recent TV credits include appearances in ‘American Horror Stories‘ on FX/Hulu, the ITV series ‘You & Me,’ and the Netflix limited series ‘Pieces of Her‘ alongside Toni Collette. She has also starred in various films like ‘Scarborough,’ ‘Holler,’ ‘Pink Skies Ahead,’ and ‘The Lobster.’

The star is represented by CAA, Curtis Brown Group, Range Media Partners, and Goodman Genow. ‘Dune: Prophecy’ will feature a stellar cast including Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Franklin.

Behind the scenes, Alison Schapker takes on the role of showrunner and executive producer for the series, supported by a team that includes Diane Ademu-John, Anna Foerster, Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, Jon Spaihts, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, and Kevin Anderson. Legendary Television and Warner Bros. Discovery are involved in the production, with the success of ‘Dune: Part Two‘ setting the stage for the TV adaptation.
