WARE, ENGLAND — Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson is having one of the best starts in NFL history. Despite the challenges of switching quarterbacks, he continues to shine. Since entering the league, Jefferson has caught 517 passes for 7,758 yards, making him the third-highest in franchise history.

This season, Jefferson is faced with inconsistency at quarterback, as J.J. McCarthy, the primary option, is injured and Carson Wentz is working to adapt after his return to the league. Jefferson, however, remains focused on his performance and responsibilities on the field. “The only thing that I can control is going out there and catching the ball and winning on my routes,” he said.

In a recent game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he succeeded despite the adversities, catching 10 passes out of 11 targets for a total of 126 yards. He might have scored a touchdown if he hadn’t slipped on the field during the game at Croke Park in Ireland. With 13 games remaining this season, he is ranked 13th in receptions and seventh in receiving yards.

Jefferson’s stats place him in elite company, tied for eighth in most receptions over a player’s first six seasons. He recently surpassed notable receivers like Cooper Kupp and CeeDee Lamb. “Sometimes you get me the ball early and let me just work off just getting the ball in my hands,” he noted about his role.

Despite his impressive start, Jefferson’s current season may not be enough to maintain his historical pace. He’s expressing optimism about working with McCarthy long-term, noting, “He’s still the quarterback we lean on.” As the Vikings prepare for their matchup against Cleveland, all eyes will be on whether Jefferson can continue his exceptional performance amid the uncertainty at quarterback.
