Kate Middleton Tŷ Hafan Hospice Visit Wales

SULLY, WalesCatherine, Princess of Wales, continued her phased return to public duties on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, with a visit to Tŷ Hafan, a children’s hospice in Wales. The visit marked her first public appearance since her return to royal engagements, and it was announced that she would become a patron of the organization.

Tŷ Hafan, the first children’s hospice in Wales, opened in 1999 and provides care and support to children with life-shortening conditions and their families. Located in the village of Sully near Cardiff, the hospice offers holistic support, addressing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of its patients and their loved ones.

During her visit, the princess participated in a “stay and play” session with children receiving care and met with bereaved families supported by the hospice. Kensington Palace described the visit as a meaningful engagement, highlighting Catherine’s commitment to supporting vulnerable families.

“As our Patron, Her Royal Highness will be an inspiration for children with life-shortening conditions and their families, our dedicated staff and volunteers, and everyone who so generously supports us,” said Irfon Rees, chief executive of Tŷ Hafan, in a statement.

The hospice has a long-standing connection with the royal family. King Charles III became a patron in 2001, and Diana, Princess of Wales, supported the charity during its fundraising stage. Catherine’s visit underscores her dedication to continuing the royal family’s legacy of charitable work.

This engagement follows Catherine’s recent return to public duties, signaling her ongoing commitment to causes close to her heart. The princess has been a vocal advocate for mental health and early childhood development, and her involvement with Tŷ Hafan aligns with her broader philanthropic focus.
