Katie Johnson Cheers for Boyfriend Jack Flaherty in ALDS

Los Angeles, California — Katie Johnson, the girlfriend of Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty, is set to support him as the team plays Game 3 of the American League Division Series on October 7, 2025. Johnson, who recently retired from professional soccer, had a successful nine-year career primarily in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). During her time, she played for teams including the Seattle Reign, Sky Blue FC, Chicago Red Stars, San Diego Wave, and Angel City FC. Johnson also represented the Mexican National Team from 2015 to 2018, scoring eight goals in 23 appearances.
Born on September 14, 1994, in Monrovia, California, Johnson was raised in a sports-oriented family. She attended Flintredge Sacred Heart Academy, where she excelled in soccer, netting 57 goals and maintaining honor roll status throughout her high school years. Johnson’s soccer idol is Alex Morgan, and she dreamed of being on a game show, highlighting her multifaceted interests.
While at the University of Southern California (USC), Johnson was instrumental in leading the Trojans to a national championship in 2016. She was the key player in the NCAA semifinal, scoring the winning goal, and contributed two goals in the finals, securing the championship for USC. Johnson graduated with a degree in Public Policy, Planning, and Development.
After retiring in December 2024, Johnson has taken up a new role as a pilates instructor in Michigan. She also celebrated her relationship with Flaherty when she posted about their date at the three-Michelin-star restaurant The French Laundry on July 17, 2025. The couple shared more moments through social media, including a photobooth session.
