Katt Williams Honored with Street Sign in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio — Comedian Katt Williams received a significant honor this weekend as city officials unveiled an honorary street sign bearing his name. The ceremony took place on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Reading Road and Maple Avenue in Avondale, where Williams was born and raised.
Vice Mayor Jan Michelle Lemon Kearney announced the dedication of the sign, which will be known as “Katt Williams Way.” Williams performed later that evening at Heritage Bank Center as part of his Katt Williams: Heaven on Earth Tour.
Williams expressed his gratitude during the dedication ceremony, stating, “It’s a blessing to have all of these people that I don’t know that I’m connected to spiritually.” He reminisced about growing up in Cincinnati, attributing its significance to his identity.
Local officials, including Avondale Community Council President Sandra Jones Mitchell, accompanied Kearney in addressing the crowd. Kearney praised Williams for his contributions to the community and his successful career, which spans two decades and includes roles in films such as “Next Friday,” “Father Figures,” and notable stand-up specials.
The comedian’s last special, “Katt Williams: Woke Foke,” was a massive hit on Netflix, becoming the most-watched comedy special of 2024.
Fellow comedians like Mo'Nique, Mark Curry, and Red Grant attended the event, celebrating Williams alongside a supportive crowd. Williams shared his appreciation stating, “Even if it’s honorary, I appreciate ‘Katt Williams Way.’ You can’t forget where you came from if you never leave. Thank you so much, and I appreciate y’all.” He concluded the event by unveiling the sign, eliciting cheers from the gathered crowd.
