Kelsey Mitchell Wnba Injury

LAS VEGAS, NV — Indiana Fever All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell suffered a left knee injury during Game 5 of the WNBA Semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025. The incident occurred when Mitchell grabbed her knee during a stoppage in play, prompting concern from nearby referees and both teams.

Mitchell remained on the court for several minutes as team trainers attended to her. Players from both the Fever and Aces surrounded her, holding towels to shield her from view. A stretcher was brought to the court but was ultimately not needed. She walked off with the help of trainers and will not return to the game.

Initial reports suggest that Mitchell is dealing with both a left knee injury and cramping in her right leg. Her absence is significant, as Mitchell contributed 15 points before her injury.

The stakes were high in this decisive Game 5, with the winner advancing to the WNBA Finals. As the game progressed, Las Vegas held a narrow lead of 73-68 with 8:20 left in the fourth quarter. Odyssey Sims and Shey Peddy had key contributions from the Fever as they fought to maintain scoring pressure.

Earlier in the game, Mitchell had delivered strong performances, including a three-pointer shortly before leaving the court. With Indiana’s 17 turnovers compared to Las Vegas’ 5, efficiency remained a concern for the Fever.

Kelsey Mitchell’s teammate, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, reached out to wish her well following the injury. The Fever will need to regroup quickly as they face the possibility of ending their season without one of their star players.
