BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Gray News) — In a harrowing event, a mother in Alabama recounted a traumatic experience when her car was shot at while driving with her sleeping infant in the backseat. Tiya Bradford expressed gratitude for her safety as she and her 1-year-old son escaped uninjured.

“God was the one that had us covered the whole way,” Bradford stated after the incident. As she described the scene on Interstate 65, she explained how the erratic driver almost collided with her vehicle, prompting her to accelerate past him.

Bradford described the moment when the driver approached her car, rolled down his window, and began yelling. “At that exact moment, my heart dropped,” she said, recalling how she felt compelled to speed away just before hearing gunshots and the sound of glass shattering.

“My first thought was ‘Is my baby OK?’” Bradford said, reflecting on the terrifying moment the bullets struck her car door where her son was sleeping. Although she wished to check on her child, she feared the shooter might return. Fortunately, both she and her son remained unharmed.

She emphasized the need for the suspect to be apprehended, citing the recklessness of shooting in a public area. Birmingham police confirmed an investigation is underway.
