Kentucky Woman Wins $50,000 on Scratch-Off Ticket
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Montgomery County woman struck it big with a $50,000 win on a Kentucky Lottery scratch-off ticket. Theresa Sons purchased the $2,000,000 Diamond Dazzler ticket at Poppa’s Quick Stop on Levee Road while stopping to buy cigarettes.
“I bout had a heart attack,” Sons told lottery officials after scratching off the winning ticket in her car. She matched the number 23, securing the game’s $50,000 second prize.
Sons, a longtime lottery player, previously won $10,000 when the Kentucky Lottery first began selling tickets. After taxes, she received a check for $36,000 and plans to use the money to “buy her kids a car.”
Poppa’s Quick Stop, where Sons purchased the winning ticket, will receive a $500 bonus for selling the lucky scratch-off.
