Kerala Government Declares Public Holiday for Muharram

The Kerala government has announced a public holiday for the occasion of Muharram, marking the commencement of the first month in the Islamic calendar. As a result, all educational institutions and government offices in Thiruvananthapuram are set to remain closed on the designated day.
While an official declaration is yet to be made following a request from Palayam Imam Dr VP Suhaib Moulavi for a holiday on July 17, the decision has been confirmed for all public and private sector banks in the region to observe a holiday on the same day.
