Kim Heng Forms Joint Venture in Malaysia to Expand Offshore Marine Business
Singapore offshore vessel operator and marine engineering services provider Kim Heng has announced the establishment of a new joint venture in Malaysia. The subsidiary, Kim Heng Agency, has partnered with Malaysia’s RUHM Holdings and Wardatul Wahdah Binti Ahmad Nokman to form a new company named Mazu Offshore.
RUHM Holdings operates marine service vessels supporting offshore exploration, drilling, and construction activities in Malaysia. The company is also a shareholder in RUHM Marine, which previously collaborated with Kim Heng’s KH Mazu Offshore & Marine, forming another joint venture in 2017.
Wahdah, who currently serves as the Malaysian country manager of KH Mazu Offshore & Marine, will join Mazu Offshore as a director with a 20% stake in the company.
Mazu Offshore’s primary focus will be on vessel agency businesses in Malaysia, along with other integrated logistics services. Kim Heng will hold a 49% ownership stake in the joint venture and appoint three directors to its board, while RUHM Holdings will have a 31% stake and one board seat.
The formation of this joint venture aims to enhance Kim Heng’s business potential in Malaysia and further expand its offshore marine operations in the country. With this strategic move, the company positions itself well for the anticipated upturn in the oil and gas industry.
