British entertainer KSI, officially known as Olajide Olayinka Williams ‘JJ’ Olatunji, has teamed up once again with Ohio-based rapper and singer Trippie Redd. The duo’s latest collaboration, “Thick Of It,” is set to make a substantial impact, potentially reaching the Official UK Top 40 Singles chart this week as its highest new entry.

The song has spurred significant conversation online, with rumors surfacing that Canadian musician Drake might have thrown subtle “shade” at it. Reports suggest that during an Adin Ross Kick stream, Drake referred to the track with a seemingly dismissive comment, which was followed by him using the song in an Instagram Reel. Observers were quick to interpret this as trolling, rather than an endorsement.

In an effort to clarify the situation, KSI and Trippie Redd addressed the rumors directly. Speaking about the song’s reception and wider exposure, KSI remarked, “I’m out here fighting demons online. When you’ve got a lot of haters and a lot of lovers listening, I guess it’s going to create that exposure.” Trippie Redd humorously noted, “They love the haters; they hate the lovers!”

Trippie further elaborated on the track’s creation, detailing the challenges he faced in meeting KSI in England for the recording. “He sent me the song, and I thought it was fire,” Trippie stated, describing the eventual recording and video shoot as a spontaneous success, despite some logistical hurdles.

The musical style of “Thick Of It” brings a nostalgic element, reminding listeners of the 2016/2017 music era, according to Trippie. The track’s unexpected success is especially notable given KSI’s hiatus from music over the past two years. KSI expressed his surprise at the song’s rapid ascent and mentioned his plans for staying unpredictable with future projects.

Regarding Drake’s reaction, KSI shared his surprise upon learning of Drake incorporating the song into his social media. “I couldn’t believe it, I was like ‘what the hell?'” KSI commented. Appreciating the exposure, he reached out to Drake, who reportedly responded positively about the track.

KSI and Trippie Redd also touched on their professional relationship, acknowledging previous collaborations and a few disagreements, notably when Trippie associated with KSI’s boxing rival, Jake Paul. However, both artists expressed optimism about future collaborations.

KSI’s “Thick Of It,” featuring Trippie Redd, is currently available through Atlantic Records UK, as listeners continue to weigh in on its merits amidst the ongoing discussion sparked by Drake’s comments.
