"landman Season 1 Finale Paramount+ Cast"

The Season 1 finale of “Landman,” the modern Texas oil drama co-created by Taylor Sheridan, premiered on Paramount+ on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2025, drawing record viewership and leaving fans eager for news of a second season. The series, starring Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a crisis executive navigating the high-stakes world of oil rigging, has become the most-watched original series in Paramount+ history.

Set in West Texas, “Landman” chronicles the lives of speculators, barons, and landmen in the oil industry. Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, is tasked with securing land leases for his company, a role that brings him into conflict with landowners and colleagues alike. The show also features a star-studded cast, including Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, and Michelle Randolph.

Since its November premiere, “Landman” has surpassed other popular Paramount+ originals like “1923,” “Tulsa King,” and “Special Ops: Lioness” in viewership. The series is based on the podcast “Boomtown” from Texas Monthly and Imperative Entertainment, with Sheridan co-creating the adaptation.

Paramount+ has yet to confirm a second season, but the show’s success makes renewal likely. Fans can stream all ten episodes of Season 1 on the platform, with subscription plans ranging from $7.99 to $12.99 per month. A free seven-day trial is also available for new subscribers.

“Landman” is part of Taylor Sheridan’s growing slate of Paramount+ hits, which includes “Yellowstone,” “1883,” and “Mayor of Kingstown.” The series has been praised for its gripping storytelling and strong performances, particularly Thornton’s portrayal of the morally complex Tommy Norris.

As of Jan. 11, 2025, Paramount+ has not announced a release date for Season 2, but the show’s popularity suggests it will remain a cornerstone of the streaming service’s original programming.
