Late Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu Receives State Honors In Emotional Burial Ceremonies

The late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, received a grand tribute in emotional burial ceremonies as his body arrived in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State. Crowds gathered in sorrow and respect, honoring the former governor.

Commonly referred to as ‘Aketi,’ the late Akeredolu was praised for his courage and leadership during the lying-in-state ceremony in Akure. Dignitaries attended to pay their last respects, highlighting his influential and inspirational legacy in Ondo State.

The current Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, paid tribute to his predecessor, emphasizing Akeredolu’s character and dedication to serving his people. Aiyedatiwa reflected on Akeredolu’s sacrifices and heroism, particularly during challenging security issues in the country.

In Owo, Akeredolu’s hometown, traditional ceremonies and emotional tributes welcomed his body. The streets were filled with crowds chanting ‘Aketi,’ symbolizing the deep respect and admiration for the late governor.

On February 23, 2024, the final burial of the former Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, will take place in Owo. The series of ceremonies began on February 15, leading to the official burial service.

From the tribute events at Loyola College Hall to the commendation service in Ibadan, dignitaries, family members, and citizens gathered to honor Akeredolu’s life and legacy. The atmosphere was somber as prayers were offered for the late governor.

A public holiday was declared in Ondo State to honor the late governor, emphasizing the widespread impact and respect Akeredolu garnered throughout his career and beyond his passing.
