Laufey Shines at Sold-Out Crypto.com Arena in L.A.

LOS ANGELES, California — Icelandic jazz-pop artist Laufey captivated fans during her sold-out performances at Crypto.com Arena over the weekend, on September 26 and 27. The 26-year-old Grammy winner showcased her charm and creativity as part of her A Matter of Time tour, which celebrates her new album of the same name.
The concert was structured into five acts, featuring various set pieces that enhanced the experience for the audience. The album focuses on themes of self-discovery and love, which Laufey described as ‘the overthinker’s guide to love.’ She expressed the emotional journey throughout the creative process, stating, ‘I never thought that it would bring out this much emotion in me.’
One of the standout moments of the evening was her song ‘Sabotage,’ which she explained represents a clash between her outward persona and inner turmoil. ‘The noise in ‘Sabotage’… was my musical way of displaying anxiety,’ she added.
Throughout the performances, Laufey incorporated elements to ensure each night felt unique. For instance, she invited special guests to join her, such as Hozier, who appeared on the first night to perform their duet ‘Magnolia,’ earning enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. On the second night, the rising girl group Katseye took the stage to collaborate with Laufey on ‘Gabriela.’
As the show reached its fourth act, Laufey warned the audience that things would take a dramatic turn. She took to the piano for a few songs, including her single ‘Goddess,’ which she performed amid atmospheric lighting, serving as a peak emotional moment of the night.
Laufey’s creative choices, such as transforming the second act into a jazz club experience, exemplified her unique blend of pop and jazz while maintaining a large arena’s grandeur. Fans left the show feeling connected and inspired by Laufey’s artistic vision, marking her performances as unforgettable highlights of the tour.
The A Matter of Time tour will continue across North America and Europe, concluding in Iceland next spring.
