Laura Rutledge Reveals Secret Twitter Defense for Husband Josh

Los Angeles, CA – ESPN reporter Laura Rutledge opened up about a secret Twitter account she created to defend her husband, former MLB player Josh Rutledge, from online critics. This revelation came during a recent interview, where she candidly spoke about the emotional toll of public criticism on her family.
.
Rutledge admitted that while her husband was with the Los Angeles Angels, she launched the burner account named ‘BillyHalo76’ to counter negativity aimed at him. ‘When he was with the Angels, I made a fake Twitter — I’m admitting this, OK? I know this was wrong. I’m not doing it ever since,’ she explained. ‘This was a one-time thing… BillyHalo only tweeted positive things about Josh.’
.
The ESPN reporter detailed how she would engage with anyone criticizing Josh, backing up his performance with statistics. ‘If anyone had said something negative about him, I would find them, and then BillyHalo would be like, ‘you’re wrong,’ and back it up with stats.’
.
Josh Rutledge, now retired, played in the MLB from 2012 to 2018. He started his career with the Colorado Rockies and was traded to the Angels in December 2014. Laura recalled the challenges her husband faced, particularly during his time with the Boston Red Sox when he was assigned to third base despite limited experience. ‘There were times when he played for the Red Sox… and he’s at the hot corner and they’re in Fenway,’ Laura remembered, expressing her frustration with fans who booed him for mistakes. ‘I’m like, ‘shut up!’
.
Currently, Laura has gained recognition as one of ESPN’s rising stars, hosting multiple shows and providing insights as a sideline reporter. She and Josh, who are both 36 years old, were married in 2013 and share two children.
