Law & Order Season 24 Returns with Midseason Premiere
Fans of the long-running crime drama Law & Order can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Season 24 returns from its midseason hiatus. The show, which airs on NBC, will premiere its midseason episode titled “Enemy of the State” on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 8/7c. The episode will also be available for streaming the next day on Peacock.
The midseason premiere promises to deliver the high-stakes drama and moral dilemmas that have become synonymous with the series. Detectives Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Vincent Riley (Reid Scott) will investigate the shocking death of a young man pushed in front of a train. Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorneys Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy) and Samantha Maroun (Odelya Halevi) will face a legal challenge involving a piece of legislation written by a key character, forcing Price to persuade the writer to testify about its implications.
Showrunner Rick Eid has emphasized that Season 24 aims to delve deeper into the personal lives of the characters while maintaining the show’s signature focus on compelling, topical cases. “We’re trying, on certain episodes, to dig just a little bit deeper into who our people are and see how their personal lives intersect with their professional lives,” Eid told NBC Insider.
Season 24 has already introduced new dynamics to the squad room, including the addition of Lieutenant Jessica Brady (Maura Tierney) as the team’s fearless new commander. The season has also explored ethical and moral dilemmas, keeping viewers hooked with its blend of procedural thrills and character development.
For fans eager to catch up, previous episodes of Law & Order, including Seasons 13 through 20, Season 23, and the current season, are available to stream on Peacock. The show continues to be a staple of NBC’s Thursday night lineup, alongside its spin-offs Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime.
