Leadership Changes at FirstEnergy’s Pennsylvania and Ohio Divisions
FirstEnergy, a leading utility company, has announced significant leadership changes within its Pennsylvania and Ohio divisions. John Hawkins Jr. has been appointed as the new President of FirstEnergy’s Pennsylvania operations, overseeing Met-Ed, Penn Power, West Penn Power, and Penelec. Hawkins, who joined FirstEnergy in 2022 as Vice President in support of Operations and Distribution Engineering, expressed his commitment to enhancing service reliability and spearheading customer-focused initiatives. He stated, “I take pride in leading an organization that plays such an important role in our daily lives, powering the places where you and I live, work, and play.” Hawkins emphasized the importance of accountability and decision-making at the local level to better serve Pennsylvania’s energy customers.
Similarly, Torrence L. Hinton has taken over as the President of FirstEnergy Ohio, which comprises Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company, and Toledo Edison. Hinton, who joined the organization in June, brings 25 years of experience in the energy sector. During his introduction, Hinton highlighted his dedication to customer satisfaction and community engagement. “I am excited about joining an organization dedicated to improving the experience for you, our customers,” he remarked. Hinton also acknowledged the community’s response to a historic August storm that disrupted power for approximately 500,000 Ohio customers, expressing gratitude towards customers for their patience and support.
These leadership changes come as FirstEnergy continues to focus on reliability and customer service across its operational regions, aligning with broader efforts in enhancing its infrastructure and community involvement.
