The 100 Leaves Netflix, Fans Seek Alternative Streaming Options
Los Angeles, CA – Fans of the sci-fi series The 100 are racing against time as the show prepares to leave Netflix on December 18. The series, which premiered on The CW in 2014, gained a loyal following over its seven-season run, concluding in 2020.
The 100 is a dystopian tale created by Jason Rothenberg. It follows a group of one hundred teenagers sent back to Earth, 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse forced humanity to live in space. Their mission: to determine if Earth is still suitable for human life.
Star Eliza Taylor plays Clarke Griffin, a key character among the group. Bellamy Blake, portrayed by Bob Morley, is another significant figure in their quest for survival. The show has been praised for its engaging storytelling and fresh take on the genre, holding a 76% approval rating for its first season on Rotten Tomatoes, which later climbed to a perfect 100% for its final three seasons.
Despite its acclaim, The 100 faced backlash over its portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters, notably through the storyline involving Clarke and Lexa, played by Alicia Debnam-Carey. Lexa’s death in Season 3 sparked widespread criticism and became a talking point on representation in media.
As The 100 moves off Netflix, viewers looking to continue or revisit the series can still find it available on HBO Max, which retains the show’s domestic streaming rights. Following its exit from Netflix, fans must adapt quickly to keep up with the saga of Skaikru.
