Leigh Francis Aka Keith Lemon: A Look Into His Life And Career

Leigh Francis, popularly known as Keith Lemon, is geared up to showcase his baking skills on The Great British Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, alongside fellow celebrities Danny Dyer, Rhod Gilbert, and Yinka Bokinn. With a career spanning nearly three decades, the 50-year-old comedian hailing from Leeds has left a mark on the entertainment industry.

Having originated from Beeston, Leeds, Leigh Francis has made North London his home where he resides with his wife, two daughters named Matilda and Dolly, and their beloved pets, including the recent addition, Olive, a Cavapoochon, after their previous dog, Doris, passed away at 17 years old.

Leigh’s journey in the spotlight began when Davina McCall discovered him at a stand-up comedy gig, leading to his role as dating advisor Bobby Stark on Dom and Kirk’s Nite O’ Plenty. The comedic genius later morphed into his widely recognized alter ego, Keith Lemon, first appearing on Whatever I Want in 2000.

Channel 4’s £250,000 deal catapulted Leigh’s career with the birth of Bo’ Selecta! in 2002, featuring quirky impersonations of celebrities like Craig David, Mel B, Michael Jackson, David Blaine, and The Osbournes. Subsequently, the inception of the famed panel show Celebrity Juice solidified Leigh’s comedic prowess, joined by the likes of Holly Willoughby, Ferne Cotton, Emily Atack, and Laura Whitmore as team captains.

Leigh’s TV ventures extended to shows like Sing If You Can with Stacey Solomon and Keith Lemon’s LemonAid, showcasing his versatility. His recent tour, ‘My First Time,’ has delighted audiences by bringing his iconic characters to life in live performances for the first time.

One of Keith Lemon’s trademarks is the bandage he dons on his right hand, initially to conceal a questionable tattoo unfit for TV. Despite claims of a permanent tattoo beneath the bandage, fans have occasionally glimpsed a tattoo-free hand, sparking intrigue.

Behind the comedic facade, Leigh cherishes his family life with wife Jill, whom he married in 2002 after meeting as teenagers. Jill, a beauty therapist, prefers to stay out of the limelight, occasionally appearing at events with Leigh to relish moments away from Keith Lemon’s antics.

In a heartwarming gesture, Leigh introduced their new furry family member, Olive, on Instagram, following the loss of their beloved pet Doris. Despite his on-screen persona, Leigh values the sanctuary of home, where he can be his authentic self, supported by Jill, whom he describes as a remarkable partner and mother.
