Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph Launch ‘Work Wives Productions’
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — “Abbott Elementary” stars Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph are taking their on-screen chemistry to the next level with the launch of their new production company, Work Wives Productions. The announcement came during Walter’s recent appearance on “Sherri,” where she shared insights into their friendship and professional collaboration.
Walter revealed that the idea for the company stemmed from Ralph’s enthusiastic support of her stand-up comedy performance in Philadelphia. “I was nervous to have her there,” Walter admitted. “My stand-up is a little raw, and I wouldn’t necessarily invite a Sheryl Lee Ralph.” Despite her initial hesitation, Ralph’s presence turned out to be a turning point, inspiring the duo to formalize their creative partnership.
The two actors, who play colleagues on the hit ABC sitcom, have developed a strong bond both on and off set. Walter described Ralph as a “loving” person with a strong sense of self, often arriving on set with a “monologue or sermon.” Their camaraderie has made filming “Abbott Elementary” feel less like work and more like a fun, collaborative effort.
Walter also reflected on the challenges of balancing their personal lives with their careers. Ralph, who has been married to Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent Hughes for 19 years, has maintained a non-traditional living arrangement with her husband. “Every two weeks we saw each other, and it has continued to work out well,” Ralph previously shared. “When I go to see him, I love to see him. When it’s time to leave, ‘Bye-bye. See you soon.'”
The launch of Work Wives Productions marks a new chapter for the duo, who are eager to bring more female-driven projects to the forefront. “When you put women together, it’s nothing we can’t do,” host Sherri Shepherd remarked during the interview.
As wildfires raged in Los Angeles earlier this month, Walter and Ralph found moments of levity amidst the chaos. Walter shared a humorous Instagram post highlighting how the strong winds had left Ralph’s wig “askew.” The post also expressed gratitude for first responders and sympathy for those affected by the fires.
With their new production company, Walter and Ralph are poised to make a significant impact in the entertainment industry, proving that their partnership extends far beyond the halls of “Abbott Elementary.”
