Liverpool Football Club achieved a new record attendance for a league match at their home ground, Anfield, during their game against Nottingham Forest. The official attendance for this Premier League match was recorded at 60,344, marking a significant milestone for the club. This increase comes after the expansion of the Anfield Road Stand, enhancing the stadium’s overall capacity.

The club’s previous record attendance for any competition remains the 1952 FA Cup match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, which was attended by 61,905 spectators. Throughout 2024, Liverpool has seen their record league attendance broken several times, thanks to the stadium improvements.

In other news, Liverpool’s U18 team faced a 2-0 defeat against Blackburn Rovers in the U18 Premier League North at Kirkby Academy. Blackburn scored twice in the second half to secure the victory. Jackson Shorrocks opened the scoring with a well-executed header shortly after the break, and Valentin Joseph sealed the win in added time.

The match was competitive, with both teams creating opportunities. Key moments included efforts from Liverpool’s Afolami Onanuga and exchanges involving Joe Boggan, who played a pivotal role for Blackburn throughout the game. Liverpool’s goalkeeper Bailey Hall made important saves, and despite Liverpool’s pressing efforts, Blackburn doubled their lead during stoppage time when Joseph intercepted Hall’s clearance.

The Liverpool U18s will next participate in the UEFA Youth League, facing AC Milan‘s U19 team. The game is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, with a 1:30 pm BST kickoff.
