Local Tulip Farmers Deliver Blooms Just in Time for Valentine’s Day
A local couple, Katie and Daniel Burke, have successfully cultivated a beautiful array of tulips at their home-based business, Port City Flowers in Alexandria. Their basement operation, equipped with specialized growing conditions, yielded varieties such as the Pamplona, Dream Touch, and Mariage tulips.
Two days before Valentine’s Day, Katie delivered a batch of freshly harvested tulips to Little Acre Flowers, managed by Amber Flack in Adams Morgan. Little Acre Flowers prides itself on offering only locally grown blooms to its customers, promoting sustainability and longevity in floral arrangements.
Amber Flack carefully arranged the tulips, including the delicate Mariage tulip, among other seasonal flowers in preparation for Valentine’s Day. With an emphasis on locally sourced blooms, the shop buzzed with activity as customers sought out unique bouquets for their loved ones.
Todd Geiwitz, a local delivery company owner, was tasked with delivering the meticulously crafted bouquets to customers across Northwest Washington. With the sweet scents of honey and citrus wafting through the air, Geiwitz made timely deliveries, including one to Lauren Laitin, who received a stunning bouquet featuring the radiant Mariage tulip.
The Burkes, Flack, and Geiwitz all played a part in bringing a touch of spring to Valentine’s Day celebrations across the area, highlighting the beauty and craftsmanship of locally grown flowers.
