Ccri Lincoln Campus Police Response

LINCOLN, R.I. — The Community College of Rhode Island‘s Lincoln campus was placed on lockdown Thursday following reports of an armed individual. Officials confirmed that a suspect is now in custody but have not disclosed the suspect’s identity or any injuries related to the situation.

The alert to students indicated a “possible suspect with a gun” on campus. Authorities emphasized that the lockdown was specific to the Lincoln site and that other CCRI campuses were unaffected.

According to a message from CCRI officials, students and staff were instructed to secure their spaces by closing all windows and doors. The lockdown came shortly after campus staff requested assistance due to an unrelated incident involving an assault with a knife at a nearby bus stop. It remains unclear whether the two incidents are connected.

Police were seen conducting an extensive search of the campus, and local law enforcement responded promptly to the emergency. “We are still gathering information and ensuring the safety of everyone involved,” a police spokesperson stated.

The situation has prompted heightened security measures at the Lincoln campus as authorities investigate. This developing story will be updated as more details become available.
