Edina, Minnesota – A lockdown at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital was lifted Tuesday afternoon after a police incident occurred near the facility. Edina police responded to the situation involving a firearm, which created concern among hospital staff and patients.

According to a source from the hospital, a family member of a patient entered the premises armed. This prompted the hospital to initiate a lockdown and shelter-in-place order for safety. However, as the situation developed, a patient inside the hospital reported that the lockdown has now been lifted.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were on-site to manage the incident. Edina police urged the public to avoid the area near the 6400 block of France Avenue while they secured the scene and investigated further.
