Lord Vishwakarma’s Birth Celebrated on Vishwakarma Jayanti: Significance and Rituals Explained
Lord Vishwakarma’s 2024 birth celebration falls on February 22 this year, aligning with the Trayodashi date of Magh Shukla Paksha and according to Udayatithi.
Lord Vishwakarma, known as the universe’s premier architect, is revered on this significant day. Hindus observe this day by expressing reverence to Lord Vishwakarma.
Lord Vishwakarma is attributed with crafting divine weapons like Mahadev‘s trident, Sudarshan Chakra, and celestial realms such as Indradev’s heaven. Noteworthy constructions by him include Lord Krishna‘s Dwarka palace and Lanka for Shiva and Parvati.
Vishwakarma Jayanti holds utmost importance in Hinduism, notably for artisans, architects, factory workers, engineers, and carpenters. It serves as an auspicious moment for them to acknowledge Lord Vishwakarma and seek his blessings for prosperity in their professions.
Devotees traditionally begin the Vishwakarma Jayanti celebration with an early start, ritualistic bath, and fresh attires before sunrise. They cleanse their residences, factories, or shops, and perform the puja. Ganga water purifies the area, rangoli adorns the space, and Lord Vishwakarma’s idol is venerated.
Offerings include milk, ghee lamps, and flowers. Mantras are chanted, and the puja concludes with respectful worship for business tools and equipment associated with professions.
