Los Angeles Weather Forecast Fire Weather Watch

Residents of Los Angeles and surrounding areas are advised to be cautious due to a Fire Weather Watch issued by the National Weather Service. The watch is in effect from Friday morning through Saturday evening for sections of Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Weak to moderate Santa Ana winds are expected to develop, with northeasterly wind gusts ranging from 25 to 40 mph and local gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph. Relative humidity is anticipated to drop into the teens, and in some areas, it could fall as low as 5-10 percent. These conditions are favorable for rapid fire spread and extreme fire behavior, posing significant threats to life and property.

In addition to the fire weather concerns, a Beach Hazards Statement has been issued for Ventura County beaches. From Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon, dangerous rip currents and breaking waves up to 6 feet are expected. This increases the risk of ocean drowning, as rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea, and waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, potentially capsizing small boats nearshore.

On a daily basis, the weather forecast for Los Angeles County indicates a pattern of morning low clouds and fog giving way to partly cloudy or sunny conditions in the afternoons. High temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 70s, with lows ranging from the mid 50s to around 60 degrees. Southwest winds around 15 mph are anticipated in the afternoons.

The upcoming week will see continued sunny conditions after morning fog, with temperatures remaining relatively stable. However, the focus remains on the critical fire weather conditions and coastal hazards that residents need to be aware of and prepare for.
