Lottie Tomlinson Opens Up About Grief in New Memoir
Lottie Tomlinson has bravely shared her story of loss and grief in her new memoir, titled ‘Lucky Girl’. The 25-year-old influencer has faced unimaginable sadness, losing both her mother and younger sister within just three years.
Lottie’s mother, Johannah, passed away in 2016 after battling leukemia. Lottie was only 18 at the time, and she immediately stepped into a maternal role for her younger siblings. Three years later, tragedy struck again when her sister Félicité died from an accidental drug overdose at the age of 18.
In a recent interview, Lottie reflected on how these losses have impacted her life. She explained that losing Félicité felt like going ‘back to square one’ with her grief. The weight of her responsibilities as a sister became even heavier after her sister’s passing.
Throughout her memoir, Lottie shares not just her pain, but also the lessons she has learned along the way. She emphasizes the importance of finding small positives in life even when faced with devastating grief. This outlook, she says, was inspired by her mother, who always knew how to feel grateful despite her illness.
Lottie also highlights the need for more support for those who are grieving. She has been working with the charity Sue Ryder to help others navigate the early stages of loss, a cause close to her heart after her own experiences.
The memoir, ‘Lucky Girl’, details Lottie’s time on tour with One Direction and how her family’s life changed as her brother, Louis Tomlinson, rose to fame. Through her writing, she hopes to encourage others who are going through their own grief, showing that it is possible to find happiness again.
In addition to her emotional journey, Lottie recently announced that she is expecting her second child with her fiancé, Lewis Burton. The couple is excited to welcome a sibling for their son, Lucky, who was born in August 2022.
